What Is the PLL?

Updated: July 15, 2026

The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) is the premier professional field lacrosse league in North America. Founded by Paul and Mike Rabil in 2019, the league features 8 teams in a touring model where all games are played at neutral-site venues across the country.

The PLL merged with Major League Lacrosse (MLL) in 2020, consolidating the top professional outdoor lacrosse talent under one league. The 2026 season runs May through September, culminating in the PLL Championship on September 19-20.

League Structure

  • 8 teams across two conferences (Eastern and Western)
  • Each team plays 12 regular-season games (in-conference opponents twice, out-of-conference once)
  • Top 3 teams per conference qualify for the playoffs
  • Games are hosted at neutral-site venues in a touring format — no team plays in a fixed home city

WLL — Women's Lacrosse League

The Women's Lacrosse League (WLL) is the PLL's sister league, featuring the top professional women's lacrosse players. The WLL runs alongside the PLL at select tour stops and has its own All-Star events and Championship.

NLL — National Lacrosse League

The NLL is the professional box (indoor) lacrosse league — a separate entity from the PLL with a different ruleset. The PLL and NLL are the two premier professional lacrosse leagues in North America, with some players competing in both.

🆕 Week 8 Predictions — Chicago (July 10-11, 2026)

  • Session 1 — Friday July 10 (5:30pm CT, ESPN+): PHI Waterdogs (3-2, ESPN #2) vs CAL Redwoods (4-2, ESPN #3). Cross-conference clash with playoff implications.
  • 🟡 MEDIUM: PHI 12-11 CAL — Kirst 14 goals is MVP-pace, and Waterdogs' depth (6 rookies dressed W6) is still growing. But Redwoods are 4-2 with the highest scoring ceiling in PLL. Edge: Philly hot, CAL still figuring out its identity after SNL upset. Pick: Philly by 1 in a one-goal game.
  • 🟡 MEDIUM: UTA 13-12 NYA — Archers are 2-4 but Dobson is fresh off All-Star MVP; Atlas is 3-3 with Shellenberger 19 pts. Edge: Archers desperate at home crowd (Chicago-area), but Entenmann can steal one. Pick: Utah by 1.
  • Session 2 — Saturday July 11 (1pm CT, ESPN2): DEN Outlaws (3-2, ESPN #1) vs BOS Cannons (2-4, ESPN #8). Outlaws rested and rolling with Tewaaraton quartet.
  • 🟢 HIGH: DEN 14-10 BOS — Outlaws ESPN #1 + Tewaaraton quartet (12 of 13 goals W6) + Boston just played the season's best game (15-12 over CAL) and is unlikely to repeat. Edge: Denver big. Pick: Denver by 4.
  • Session 3 — Saturday July 11 (6pm CT, ESPN): MDW Whipsnakes (3-3, ESPN #4, 3-game skid) vs CAR Chaos (3-3, ESPN #6). Both teams desperate to stop a slide.
  • 🟡 MEDIUM: MDW 12-11 CAR — Spallina continues to produce; Carroll (10G) still elite in attack. But Chaos defense (Riorden 64% SV%) was solid in W4 W4. Edge: Whipsnakes' offense breaks through against Riorden in his 3rd game in 5 days. Pick: Maryland by 1.
  • WLL Game — Saturday July 11: MDW Charm (1-2) vs NYA Charging (2-1). Polymarket line: Charm 55¢ / Charging 45¢.
  • 🟢 HIGH: NYA Charging 14-12 MDW Charm — Charging's championship experience + McCool's MVP momentum + Doucette's goaltending edge. Charm's defense has been inconsistent. Pick: New York by 2.
  • Pattern Watch: 4 of 4 Week 6 picks hit direction; Week 7 was All-Star Break. Week 8 results: Waterdogs 15-13 Redwoods ✅; Archers 16-5 Atlas ❌; Outlaws 13-15 Cannons ❌ upset; Whipsnakes 17-10 Chaos ✅. WLL: Charm 16-15 Charging ❌ UPSET. Final: 2/5 direction.

Week 9 Predictions — Fairfield (July 17-19, 2026)

  • Week 9 at Rafferty Stadium, Fairfield, CT. Friday July 17 (6pm ET, ESPN+): Redwoods vs Whipsnakes. Friday WLL (8:30pm ET): Guard vs Charm. Saturday/Sunday sessions and broadcast assignments to be confirmed by PLL. Predictions will update when full matchups and odds are available.
  • 🟡 MEDIUM: MDW 12-11 CAL — Whipsnakes' momentum after snapping the skid vs Carolina, plus Redwoods coming off a loss where CJ Kirst exposed their defense. Edge: Maryland's pick defense stabilizes against a CAL offense that can be neutralized. Pick: Whipsnakes by 1.
  • WLL Guard vs Charm: Charm riding high after the Charging upset; Guard still searching for first WLL win. Pick: Charm by 3.
  • Stay tuned for full Week 9 picks after PLL releases the remaining matchups.

Season Predictions (Updated After Week 8)

  • Champion: California Redwoods — 4-3 after W8; still lead West. Molloy record-tyer + Ward + Kavanagh/Ierlan remain championship-caliber despite the Friday loss.
  • Runner-up: Denver Outlaws3-4 after W8 home loss to Boston; ESPN #1 curse continues (lost as #1 to Cannons); Tewaaraton quartet still a threat but now tied in the West.
  • Breakout Team: California Redwoods — Was already listed as Breakout; now elevated to championship favorite. Kavanagh-Molloy-Ierlan-Ward quad best in PLL.
  • Biggest Disappointment: Maryland WhipsnakesREVISED. 4-3 after snapping skid; pick defense improved in 17-10 win. Still not the dominant force expected.
  • MVP: CJ Kirst (PHI) — Leads PLL with 20 goals through W8 and is firmly in the MVP conversation. Watch Connor Shellenberger (NYA, 19 pts), Dylan Molloy (CAL), Coulter Mackesy (BOS), Aidan Carroll (MDW).
  • Rookie: Joey Spallina (MDW) — POTW Wk3 (5 pts debut) + 7 pts in 3 GP. Watch: Chad Palumbo (CAR), Leo Johnson (UTA), CJ Kirst (PHI).
  • Best Defense: Carolina ChaosREVISED from Whipsnakes. Riorden 64% SV% + Rowlett/Reh/Neumann unit held opponents under 11 in W4. Whipsnakes' pick defense is now cause for concern after allowing 13 to Outlaws in W6.
  • Best Offense: California Redwoods — 16 goals vs Archers in W5 (Molloy 7G); highest ceiling in PLL. New York Atlas rising after 28 goals in W5 weekend.
  • Week 6 Upset Hit: Boston Cannons 15-12 over Redwoods — Cannons snap 4-game skid on SNL.
  • Week 8 Upset Hit: Boston Cannons 15-13 over Denver Outlaws — Back-to-back statement wins give Boston real playoff life.
  • Revised Take: Denver Outlaws climb to challenge Redwoods after the 13-7 W6 Sat win. ESPN's top five all have questions: Redwoods split the homecoming; Whipsnakes' pick defense is breaking; Outlaws' Tewaaraton quartet is rolling; Waterdogs jumped to first in the East and ESPN #2; Atlas is resilient. Bottom 3 (CHA-UTA-BOS) remain competitive. New storyline: Waterdogs 11-10 win puts them atop the East and ESPN #2 at the All-Star break.
  • All-Star Break Revision: Outlaws jump to ESPN #1. Redwoods still title contender but no longer consensus favorite. Waterdogs lead East and ESPN #2. Whipsnakes' three-game skid is the biggest red flag heading into Chicago. CORRECTION (July 6, 2026): The 2026 PLL All-Star Game final score was West 12, East 9 (not 15-13 as previously reported). MVP was Brett Dobson (not Brennan O'Neill). Both are correct now.
  • Week 8 Revision: Waterdogs now lead East at 4-2. Redwoods still lead West at 4-3. The middle of the pack is crowded at 3-4 or 4-4, making every Week 9-13 game critical.

  • CJ Kirst (PHI) continues his MVP push with 6G vs Redwoods; leads league with 20 goals.
  • Connor Shellenberger (NYA) leads the PLL in points (19) despite Atlas losing 5-16 to Utah.
  • Utah Archers rebound from 2-4 to 4-4 with a dominant 16-5 win over Atlas.
  • Boston Cannons upset Denver 15-13 for their second straight win after a 4-game skid.
  • Maryland Whipsnakes snap 3-game losing streak with 17-10 win over Carolina.
  • California Redwoods still lead West at 4-3 despite losing 13-15 to Waterdogs.
  • Zach Currier (PHI) reaches 466 career ground balls — ties Kyle Hartzell for 14th all-time, 4th among active players, and passes Matt Abbott for the most ever by a non-face-off shortstick d-middie.
  • Aidan Maguire (UTA) — the 2026 #1 overall pick — scores his first career PLL goal on a transition finish off a feed from Cam Wyers in the 16-5 win over Atlas.
  • Brett Dobson (UTA) follows up his All-Star MVP with a 64.3% SV% performance vs Atlas; rookie class continues to star as Leo Johnson (2G, 2-of-2 shooting) and Ryan Stines (first career hat trick, 3rd straight game with 3+ points) deliver.
  • Aidan Carroll (MDW) bounces back from coach Jim Stagnitta's public criticism of his 1-of-6 shooting in W6: 3G/1A in 17-10 win vs Carolina equals his prior 3 games combined. 'The only one that holds him back, I think, is him.' — Stagnitta.

  • Week 9 moves to Fairfield, CT (July 17-19).
  • WLL Chicago (July 11): Maryland Charm 16, New York Charging 15 — one-goal thriller; UPSET as Charm extends title hopes with highest-scoring Q1 in WLL history. Charging fall to 2-2.
  • Quint Kessenich's Power Rankings (Yahoo, July 14, 2026): 1. Philadelphia Waterdogs (4-2) — 'CJ Kirst is leading the league with five goals per game, shooting above 50% and elevating his team in the process. Kirst has become must-see TV. He is the MVP favorite.' Kirst finished the Redwoods game with 6G/9S/31 touches; Matt DeLuca 10 first-half saves.
  • 2. Denver Outlaws (3-3) — 'The Outlaws' midfield production and assorted injuries, combined with a choppy schedule, are to blame for the inconsistent results. Graham Bundy, Evan Plunkett, Dalton Young, and Justin Anderson are where I turn for solutions.'
  • 3. Maryland Whipsnakes (4-3) — 'Maryland is shooting a league-high 30% and has 48 assists. Carolina has 23 assists for comparison.' Adam Poitras 13G shooting 43% left-handed.
  • 4. Utah Archers (4-4) — 'The Archers have found their mojo on offense, destroying New York in Chicago, 16-5.' Mike Sisselberger 19-of-24 faceoffs; Utah has given up 63 scores in 7 games (5 times held opponents under 10).
  • 5. Boston Cannons (3-4) — 'The Cannons lead the league with 90 scores.' Marcus Holman 8% off-dribble vs 44% when assisted (righty 37%, lefty 0%).
  • 6. California Redwoods (4-3) — 'Without defenders Chris Fake and Cole Kastner (both injured), they have a limited ceiling and aren't going anywhere.' Chris Kavanagh shooting 0% left-handed.
  • 7. New York Atlas (3-4) — 'The wheels are off the bus after an ugly 16-5 loss to Utah. It's now or never time for the Atlas. They make their last stand in Fairfield.'
  • 8. Carolina Chaos (3-4) — 'Carolina can't pass. Their offensive sets are busted. Just 23 assists in seven games. That's hero ball 101.'

🆕 PLL Team of the Month for June 2026

  • 🥇 Joe Seiders Award (Best Player): CJ Kirst (PHI) — 14 goals in 4 games after being moved to attack. 5G vs Utah W6 Sun. ESPN MVP favorite. 'CJ Kirst has 14 goals and is now the MVP favorite.'

The WLL All-Star Game followed with Team Izzy 16, Team Humphrey 15, with Marie McCool (New York Charging) named MVP. Week 8 in Chicago is complete: Waterdogs 15-13 Redwoods, Archers 16-5 Atlas, Cannons 15-13 Outlaws, Whipsnakes 17-10 Chaos. Philadelphia Waterdogs now lead the East at 4-2. California Redwoods lead the West at 4-3. Maryland Whipsnakes improved to 4-3 after snapping their 3-game skid. Utah Archers are back to .500 at 4-4. Denver Outlaws, New York Atlas, Boston Cannons, and Carolina Chaos all sit at 3-4, creating a crowded playoff race. The league moves to Fairfield, CT (July 17-19) for Week 9. WLL W7 result: Maryland Charm 16, New York Charging 15 — UPSET thriller.

California Redwoods - ESPN #3 (Dropped Home SNL Game)

  • All-Star Break: 4-2; fell from ESPN #1 to #3 after the SNL upset, rebounded in OT Sunday vs Chaos; still a title contender.
  • 2025: Missed playoffs
  • Additions: Dillon Ward (trade), Michael Boehm (trade), Cullen Brown (rookie, OSU LSM), Chris Kavanagh (trade from DEN), Ryan Croddick (trade from DEN, 2027 1st-rd pick sent to Outlaws)
  • Week 5 Friday: Won 16-14 vs ArchersDylan Molloy tied the PLL single-game goal record with 7 goals (matching O'Keefe's W4 performance). Molloy added 2 assists for 9 points. Kavanagh 5 pts incl. go-ahead 2-pt goal at 2:31 of 4Q. Ward 15 saves. CAL improves to 3-1.
  • Week 6 Saturday SNL: Lost 12-15 to Boston Cannons — UPSET at home. Ward shelled, Ierlan struggled at the dot, Kavanagh/Molloy neutralized by Holman's defense. First home loss of 2026.
  • Week 6 Sunday: Won 14-13 vs Carolina Chaos (OT) — Molloy added goals as CAL bounced back from the SNL upset to avoid an 0-2 homecoming.
  • All-Star Game: Chris Kavanagh scored the de facto game-winning goal at 8:30 of Q4 (BTB finish off Pat Kavanagh's assist) to give the West a 9-8 lead they never relinquished. Ended West's 12-9 win.
  • ESPN W6 Take (Kessenich): "Veteran attackman Dylan Molloy scored seven times. Specialists TD Ierlan (faceoff at 55%) and goalie Dillon Ward (59% save percentage) keep the possession war on the Redwoods' side."
  • Impact: 4-2 after split weekend. OT bounce-back win Sunday was critical. Fell from ESPN #1 to #3 at the All-Star break. Bounce-back from SNL upset validates the championship trajectory.
  • Week 8 Friday: Lost 13-15 to Philadelphia Waterdogs — CJ Kirst 6G too much; CAL still leads West at 4-3.

Maryland Whipsnakes - ESPN #4 (3 Straight Losses)

  • Week 8: 4-3 after beating Carolina 17-10; snapped 3-game skid.
  • 2025: Missed playoffs
  • Additions: Joey Spallina (#3 overall, Syracuse), Truitt Sunderland (UVA), Jack Pilling (Richmond), Rob Pannell (continuing as offensive leader)
  • Week 5: Lost 14-16 to Atlas at Shuart Stadium — led 6-0 and 10-3 before Atlas stormed back. Spallina homecoming; 3-2 after the loss.
  • Week 8 Saturday: Won 17-10 vs Carolina Chaos — Spallina and Carroll produced; pick defense stabilized.
  • Spallina Watch: 5 pts in W3 debut (POTW) + 2 more in next game + homecoming Saturday = 7+ pts in 3 GP. Tewaaraton favorite continues to produce.
  • ESPN W6 Take (Kessenich): "Punchless on offense, Maryland fell to Denver 13-7 in San Diego. The Whips are struggling to win matchups with the ball in their sticks — who can get to the goal or draw a double team?"
  • Impact: 4-3 now. Snapped 3-game skid with a convincing win. Dropped to ESPN #4 earlier but this win helps stabilize the season.

Denver Outlaws - ESPN #1 (Tewaaraton Quartet Rolling)

  • Week 8: 3-4 after losing 13-15 to Boston; fell from first in West.
  • 2025: Missed playoffs
  • Additions: Ben Randall (trade), Evan Plunkett (rookie, Army), Pat Kavanagh (trade, activated PUP, W3 debut 16 pts)
  • Trade: Outlaws claimed rookie G Croddick and immediately flipped to Redwoods for 2027 1st-rd pick — turned an undrafted asset into a 1st-rounder
  • Week 4: Lost 12-11 to Chaos — Palumbo GWG; Denver offense sputtered after 16-pt W3 outburst. Bernhardt missed with injury. Jake Piseno 'game-wrecking' in the middle.
  • Week 5: Bye — well-timed rest before ESPN linear Saturday vs Whipsnakes.
  • Week 8 Saturday: Lost 13-15 to Boston Cannons — upset on ESPN+; Tewaaraton quartet could not overcome Boston momentum.
  • All-Star Game: Logan Wisnauskas led the West with 3G/1A. Chris Kavanagh scored the de facto game-winner (BTB off Pat Kavanagh's assist) at 8:30 of Q4. Brennan O'Neill played in the game but did not win MVP (the MVP was Brett Dobson — CORRECTION).
  • ESPN W6 Take (Kessenich): "The Outlaws pulled away from Maryland 13-7 in San Diego as the Tewaaraton quartet of Pat Kavanagh, Logan Wisnauskas, Jared Bernhardt and Brennan O'Neill were involved in 12 of the 13 goals. The favorites in the West are a bit nicked up and will play seven games in six weeks after Annapolis."
  • Impact: 3-4 now. Lost the ESPN #1 spot. Tewaaraton quartet still dangerous but the Boston loss shows vulnerability.

Philadelphia Waterdogs - ESPN #2

  • Week 8: 4-2, lead East after 15-13 win over Redwoods.
  • 2025: Quarterfinal exit
  • Additions: Zed Williams (trade), Silas Richmond (rookie, Albany), Gavin Adler (FA), CJ Kirst (rookie, Cornell — 6 goals in W4, 5 goals in W6 Sun)
  • Week 4: Won 17-10 vs Cannons — CJ Kirst 6 goals; Hannah 2G/2GB; Sowers offense balanced; DeLuca 69% SV%
  • Week 5: Bye — well-timed rest before San Diego game vs Archers.
  • Week 8 Friday: Won 15-13 vs California Redwoods — CJ Kirst 6G; Waterdogs strengthen East lead.
  • ESPN W6 Take (Kessenich): "Philly defeated Utah 11-10 on Sunday in San Diego. CJ Kirst has 14 goals and is now the MVP favorite. The Dogs dressed six rookies — Josh Yago, Matt Collison, Silas Richmond, Kyle Lewis, Sean Byrne and Brendan Staub — meaning there is more room for growth down the stretch."
  • Impact: 4-2 and atop the East. CJ Kirst now leads the league with 20 goals and is firmly in the MVP conversation.

New York Atlas - ESPN #5 (Bye W6)

  • Week 8: 3-4 after 5-16 loss to Utah; club scoring low.
  • 2025: Won championship 24-16 over Chaos
  • Additions: Levi Anderson (trade), Alex Ross (rookie, Penn), Matt Rambo (claimed from Outlaws, 2019 MVP, 164 career pts, 3x All-Star)
  • 🆕 July 9 Trade: Traded rookie defenseman Nikko DiPonio to the Utah Archers; signed Michigan defensive midfielder Carson Billig (per PLL announcement). Billig adds LSM depth for the W8-13 stretch run as Trevor Baptiste works back from injury (Baptiste to miss third straight game per PLL W8 injury report; Zac Tucci set to start at the dot).
  • Week 5 Friday: Won 12-11 vs Cannons — 4th-quarter comeback from 10-8 down. Entenmann 17 saves (65.4% SV%), Costabile 2-pt GWG with 3:25 remaining, Dickson short-handed game-winner. Traynor + Kelleher hat tricks; Shellenberger 1G/3A orchestrated late rally.
  • Week 5 Saturday: Won 16-14 vs Whipsnakes — Erased a seven-goal deficit at Shuart Stadium. Connor Shellenberger 3G/3A (6 pts), Entenmann another strong outing. Rambo's 3rd game vs former Whipsnakes team.
  • Week 8: Lost 5-16 to Utah Archers — bye week did not help; offense never got going and set a club scoring low.
  • All-Star Game: Liam Entenmann made 13 saves in the 1st half for the East — strong showing for the reigning PLL title team's goaltender.
  • ESPN W6 Take (Kessenich): "The Atlas had a bye during the San Diego stop on the PLL tour. FOGO Trevor Baptiste should be back in action in Chicago after being banged up at the USA team tryouts in June."
  • Impact: 3-4 now. Despite Shellenberger leading the league in points (19), the offense collapsed against Utah. Need to regroup in Fairfield.

Carolina Chaos - ESPN #6

  • Week 8: 3-4 after 10-17 loss to Maryland; defense gave up season-high.
  • 2025: Lost championship to Atlas
  • Changes: HC Steven Brooks (former Atlas assistant)
  • Week 4: Lost 15-7 to Archers (Fri — Riorden 17 saves in loss; O'Keefe 7G) but Won 12-11 vs Outlaws (Sat — Palumbo's first career hat trick + GWG; Riorden clutch b2b)
  • Week 5: Bye — well-timed rest before San Diego Sunday vs Redwoods.
  • Week 8 Sunday: Lost 10-17 vs Maryland Whipsnakes — defense struggled in ESPN+ nightcap.
  • All-Star Game: Chad Palumbo attempted an Air Gait that didn't convert but created one of the highlights of the All-Star Game. He finished with 1G/1A including a highlight-worthy fake BTB and finish. 'Being on this campus and this stadium, on July 4th, the 250th year of our beautiful country — cool place to be,' Palumbo said.
  • ESPN W6 Take (Kessenich): "The Chaos lost a nailbiter to California 14-13 in OT on Sunday at Torero Stadium. Carolina needs to spin the rock with more intention. They have only 18 assists in six games. The bright spots have been rookie Chad Palumbo and third-year pro Ross Scott a.k.a. Scooter."
  • Impact: 3-4 now. Defense-first identity took a hit vs Maryland. Palumbo and Scott remain bright spots.

Utah Archers - ESPN #7 (Dobson Wins All-Star MVP)

  • Week 8: 4-4 after dominant 16-5 win over Atlas.
  • 2025: Semifinal exit
  • Additions: Aidan Maguire (#1 overall, 3-yr deal), Brett Dobson (NLL MVP, ext. 2028), Mac O'Keefe (continuing as primary scorer)
  • 🆕 July 9 Acquisition: Acquired rookie defenseman Nikko DiPonio from the New York Atlas; continues the defensive rebuild around Brett Dobson. DiPonio adds LSM depth for the West conference push — his Michigan-to-PLL pipeline is notable.
  • Week 5 Friday: Lost 16-14 to Redwoods — Built 12-9 lead late in 3Q before CAL erupted with 7-2 run in 4Q. Rookie Leo Johnson 4G breakout; Sam King hat trick + 1A; Dobson 18 saves game-high.
  • Week 4: Won 15-7 vs Chaos — O'Keefe tied PLL record with 7 goals on 12 shots; Leclaire 4A; Sisselberger 18 GB; Dobson 68% SV%.
  • Week 8 Friday: Won 16-5 vs New York Atlas — offense exploded; Fields 4G; Dobson solid in net.
  • 🏆 All-Star Game: Brett Dobson (Utah Archers) named 2026 PLL All-Star Game MVP after recording 11 saves in the 2nd half for the West in the 12-9 win over the East. He also won the postgame relay race. Dobson: 'A lot of guys have this week off, so I'm looking at the big picture perspective for me, I missed the first two games for NLL stuff, so I'm getting my feet under myself.' This is a major bounce-back for the 2-4 Archers — and a coronation for their franchise goalie.
  • ESPN W6 Take (Kessenich): "Utah had a self-inflicted 11-10 defeat on Sunday at the hands of Philadelphia, largely due to eight penalty minutes. The Archers have an elite defense and goalie in Brett Dobson, but the offense lacks bite with Grant Ament and Tom Schreiber on the mend."
  • Impact: 4-4 now. The 16-5 rout is a statement win and gets the Archers back to .500. Dobson and the offense finally clicked.

Boston Cannons - ESPN #8 (SNL Upset Win)

  • Week 8: 3-4 after upsetting Denver 15-13; two straight wins.
  • 2025: Expansion franchise - debut
  • Additions: Mikey Weisshaar (#2 overall, Towson), Hunter Smith (Richmond), Andrew McMeekin (rookie, Princeton — 66% FO in pro debut)
  • Week 5 Friday: Lost 12-11 to Atlas — Led 3-1 after Q1, led 10-8 early in Q4. Then NY rallied — Costabile 2-pt GWG, Dickson short-handed GWG. Holman's shot hit pipe with 15 sec left. Kelly 4G, Holman hat trick.
  • Week 4: Lost 17-10 to Waterdogs — CJ Kirst bested brothers Colin and Connor; Cannons D didn't support G Colin Kirst; 1-for-11 from 2-point range.
  • Week 8 Saturday: WON 15-13 vs Denver Outlaws — another upset; Coulter Mackesy 5P; Boston now 3-4 and climbing.
  • All-Star Game: Marcus Holman led the East with 3 goals.
  • ESPN W6 Take (Kessenich): "The Cannons grabbed a 15-12 win over California, an upgrade in performance level, giving Boston life and hope in the second half of the summer. Coulter Mackesy scored four times, and attackman Brian Kelly had a productive day in the win over the Redwoods."
  • Impact: 3-4 now. Back-to-back statement wins over Redwoods and Outlaws give Boston real playoff life.

What's the difference between PLL and NLL?

The PLL plays outdoor field lacrosse in the summer (May–September) with 8 teams. The NLL plays indoor box lacrosse in the winter (December–June) with teams in the US and Canada. Many players compete in both leagues. The 2026 NLL champion was the Toronto Rock (swept Halifax 2-0 in the Finals).

How do PLL standings work?

Teams are split into Eastern and Western conferences. Each team plays 12 regular-season games (in-conference opponents twice, out-of-conference opponents once). The top three teams from each conference qualify for single-elimination playoffs. Conference record is the primary tiebreaker, followed by head-to-head and point differential.

Who are the top PLL players in 2026?

Through Week 8: Connor Shellenberger (NYA) leads points with 19; Bryan Costabile (NYA) is second with 18. CJ Kirst (PHI) leads goals with 20 and is tied for third in points (22). Marcus Holman (BOS) and Michael Sowers (PHI) also have 22 points. Dylan Molloy (CAL) is fifth with 21 points. CJ Kirst moved from attack and has become an early MVP favorite.
